Scotts Rider Development Programme
Scotts of Thrapston, leading manufacturer of timber stables, is delighted to be the Title Sponsor for Carlton Horse Trials
for a third year, in 2012. In conjunction with this sponsorship, Scotts has offered two lucky riders a place on their Rider Development Programme each year and 2012 is no exception.
To make this Olympic year extra special, Nick Turner, who has been heavily involved in the Scotts Rider Development Programme since its inception, has also offered the two winners access to train with the Brazilian 2012 Eventing Team, to whom he is Performance Manager.

Sarah Hawkins and Charlotte Stockdale have been named as the successful two riders for the 2012 Rider Development Programme, chosen from a pool of over 80 strong applicants. We are delighted to welcome Sarah and Charlotte into the programme and we hope you will be following their progress through the Scotts of Thrapston Blog.
What does the Rider Development Programme involve?
Scotts of Thrapston has supported local amateur event riders continuously, and is delighted to be running the programme in partnership with Carlton for a third year. You may well have followed Henry Beasley, Janet Hammond, Sarah Orr and Alex Elliott over the past two years. They have been part of the rider development programme and have benefited from the extensive training and support given in the months leading up to competing at Carlton Horse Trials.
The aim of the 2012 programme is to encourage grass-roots level riders to improve their standards and skills safely. From March 2012, Charlotte and Sarah will work towards competing in their first affiliated event, at Carlton in July. In this special Olympic year, the two riders will also have a unique and incredible opportunity to train alongside an Olympic team.
